Field import: The GPT field-map elements
can read electromagnetic field-data calculated by
external solvers such as Superfish
and
TOSCA. Other
codes are supported via a generic tabular ASCII or GDF file format.
Electrostatic,
magnetostatic and RF-cavity maps can be imported for 2D and 3D geometries. There is no restriction to the size and
density of the field-maps, as long as there is sufficient memory.

GPTwin color-density plot of the electric field strength in the TU/e
2.5 cell rf-cavity. The TM-profile was calculated with Superfish
and automatically imported into GPT as a 2D cylindrical symmetric
field-map. Results of particle tracking simulations through this structure
are shown here.
